My story

Anja Fehrenbacher

Some moments are too precious to fade away. I'm Anja Fehrenbacher, and in my works I capture the fleeting magic of the moment—full of depth, emotion, and color.

Why I draw

Anja Fehrenbacher (6).jpg

When was the last time you felt you could simple be?

Time and space had disappeared. Just you and that moment in time.

You hear a quiet whisper: the voice of your soul.

I paint.  Everything around me disappears. Only the magic of light and shadow, shape and color, the mood in the here and now.

The past is gone. The future doesn't exist yet. Only that one moment is real.

I paint to inspire people to enjoy the fleeting moment and the silence, to listen to the sound of their soul and enjoy the peace that comes with it.

When I paint and take photographs, there is only the present.

In many of my paintings I use photos that I take while traveling or at home as sources of inspiration.

I have a special relationship with cats, which is why they are an integral part of my repertoire.

Anja Fehrenbacher discovered her passion for art at a very young age, painting her first cat at just 2 years old. By the time she turned 14, she was already creating a series of pet portraits, which marked the beginning of her artistic journey. She specialized in art during her schooling, setting a solid foundation for her creativity and skills.

Her career took an exciting turn as she spent seven years working in the film and theatre industry in Dublin, Ireland, where she honed her craftsmanship by making costumes. This experience enriched her artistic abilities and provided her with a unique perspective on design and storytelling.

Returning to her home country, Germany, to the Black Forest area, where her family lived, in her early 30s, she worked in various hospitals specializing in Neurology. After more than 15 years, life again took an unexpected turn, and Anja Fehrenbacher followed a vague idea, left everything behind, and moved to Munich to learn more painting techniques.

She took classes with local artists like Gabriele Königs, Susanne Hauenstein, and Angelika Frank, and also with international teachers like Flora Bowley. She has also studied art at the Milan Art Institute, graduating in March 2025, where Elli and Dimitra Milan were her teachers and Rita Vicari her coach.

She has her first exhibitions planned for 2025. She will show a print of her most popular work, “Hole in the Wall Café in Bengaluru,” at ARTKarlsruhe, and five originals from her Restaurant Scenes series at Kunsthalle Kempten in April.
